Alafia Swampers

Out of Riverview, Florida, where the blackwater of the Alafia winds through cypress and floodplain toward Tampa Bay, Alafia Swampers play like the river itself deep, unpredictable, and impossible to ignore.

Dewey Buxton’s baritone hits like a storm rolling over the flats. Ron Zebron’s lead guitar doesn’t decorate a song it hunts it, mixing Southern-rock bite with classic-rock fire. Jimmy Caulk’s bass sits low and heavy, the mud beneath the current. Chris Bishop holds it down behind the drums, driving the band with a heavy pocket and the kind of groove that keeps the whole swamp moving.

The Swampers don’t dress the South up. They bring it with them. Southern rock fire. Country grit. Classic-rock muscle. A little outlaw swagger. And that thick Florida humidity that can turn a waterfront bar, festival, biker rally, or packed hometown venue into something that feels more like a back-porch jam that somehow found a PA.

Their live shows pull from the music that helped shape their sound The Outlaws, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band, Hank Williams Jr., The Allman Brothers Band, ZZ Top and more but Alafia Swampers aren’t interested in becoming a tribute act or a museum for somebody else’s music.

They’re building something of their own. With original Alafia Swampers music now in the works, the band is taking the sound forged on Florida stages and putting its own name on it Southern rock with roots in the river, the road, and the place they call home. Southern rock. Classic rock.

Country. And a whole lotta swamp.
